Local Information

Cheltenham Borough is based on the town of Cheltenham and covers an area of 4,680 hectares. The Borough is primarily urban, although it includes surrounding areas of countryside.

17% of the Borough is designated as Green Belt and 22% as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

It is considered by many as "The Gateway to the Cotswolds"

Cheltenham Spa lies some 5 kilometres to the east of the M5 motorway mid-way between Bristol and Birmingham on the edge of the Cotswolds Hills.

It is this Regency townscape, together with the high quality shopping and other facilities, which the town provides, and its fine topographical setting, which has given the town its present image and makes it a major attraction for tourists and is considered a life enhancing experience.
