Quote from the Arcbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams: “We believe that good inter faith relations are a vital part of a harmonious, just and respectful society"
The aim is to raise awareness of Cheltenham’s diverse faith communities, and encourage tolerance respect and good relations.
This year's event has 5 partners : Cheltenham Borough Council, Cheltenham Inter-Faith, the University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum , and Gloucestershire County Council. The speakers will be: Dame Janet Trotter,Deputy Mayor-Councillor Colin Hay,and Cheltenham Borough Council Chief Executive Andrew North.
We wanted to build on last years interactive element, so this year, attendees will be invited to decorate hand - shaped cards that that reflect their faith or beliefs - for example a word, a thought, a symbol. The hands will then be assembled to form an artwork that will be displayed in Cheltenham's Beechwood Arcade.
Following the art activity, local community groups will provide a range of food that reflects their faith or ethnic background.
The event is free and open to all.
As part of the promotion of Inter-Faith Week, we will also be running a free card decorating workshop on Saturday 26th November in the Beechwood Arcade
