Judges of Cheltenham's Top Talent competition in Beechwood Shopping Centre on Saturday had a tough task in choosing the eight acts which will go on to the grand final in Beechwood on December 18.
Singers, dancers and a poet impressed the judges in the auditions and enthusiastic crowds of supporters offered plenty of encouragement.
The judging panel consisted of Cheltenham Mayor Councillor Barbara Driver, Echo Editor Kevan Blackadder and Beechwood Shopping Centre Manager Owen Acland who said: "The quality of the contestants made it very difficult for us to decide a final eight. They all performed well and certainly all the shoppers, friends and supporters seemed to enjoy it.
"The centre was busy all day with everyone having a good time and we'd like to thank all those who took part. Our other attractions on the day including Father Christmas, Beechwood Bear, a colourful giant walk-about Christmas tree and a stilt walking fairy ballerina helped entertain the crowds and proved very popular. Customers also enjoyed the chance to enter our competition for the chance to win £250 in vouchers"
The talent competition, which was open to under 25s, will help raise cash for the Mayor's chosen charities Cheltenham YMCA, National Star College and the St Vincent's and St George's Association and Owen thanked everyone who made such generous contributions.
The finalists are: Mubonki Bulawayo, dancer; Oliver Carter, singer; Ayse Alice Demir, singer; Jade Dunkley and Emily Monahan, dancers; Jas Kent, dancer; Jamie Parekh, dancer; Emma Stone, singer; Eloise Willetts, singer.
The Mayor has thanked everyone for a fantastic day and said the feedback had been great. The bucket collection in aid of the three charities on the day was an amazing £564.85.
